Punjab Police Vows Strict Action on Violations During New Year’s Eve
Punjab Police has announced a comprehensive security plan for New Year’s Eve, warning that violators of the law will face strict action. The measures aim to maintain law and order across the province during the celebrations.
Inspector General Punjab Police, Dr Usman Anwar, has ordered enhanced security in Lahore and other districts, deploying over 25,000 officers and personnel across Punjab. In Lahore alone, more than 5,000 police personnel will be stationed at key locations.
Authorities will monitor activities through CCTV cameras, while police remain on high alert to prevent anti-state elements and criminal acts. The IG emphasized zero tolerance for one-wheeling, aerial firing, hooliganism, and harassment of women, with offenders to be detained immediately.
Officials have also issued warnings for severe cold, rain, and snowfall, which could impact movement and security. Traffic management will be coordinated, and Dolphin Squad, PERA, Elite Force, and Highway Patrol teams will increase patrolling on roads and highways to ensure a safe celebration.
