Punjab Government Empowers CCD to Tackle Online Fraudsters

The Punjab government has granted new powers to the Crime Control Department (CCD) to take action against individuals involved in online and electronic fraud, reports 24NewsHD. This move aims to curb the growing incidents of digital looting targeting ordinary citizens.

Authorities noted that salaried professionals, businessmen, and even beneficiaries of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) are increasingly falling victim to online scams. Fraudsters have reportedly amassed billions of rupees through such illegal activities, often avoiding registration of cases against them.

The government has also decided to attach properties linked to members of these organized criminal networks, signaling a strong approach against cybercrime. Officials hope that the expanded powers of the CCD will help protect citizens’ savings and strengthen law enforcement against emerging digital threats.
