Murree Expressway Shut to Traffic as Heavy Snowfall Disrupts Travel

The Murree Expressway (N-75) has been closed for general traffic after heavy snowfall, with authorities restricting entry from Phulgara Toll Plaza toward Murree, according to an alert issued by the National Highway and Motorway Police (NHMP).

Officials said the decision was taken to ensure public safety, as severe weather conditions have made road travel hazardous. The restriction applies only to vehicles heading toward Murree, while the N-75 highway remains open for local residents and emergency services.

Authorities have urged tourists to avoid non-essential travel to Murree until weather conditions improve. Travelers already in the area have been advised to cooperate with traffic officials and follow safety instructions strictly.

Meanwhile, the district administration and traffic police have finalized special traffic arrangements for the winter rush, including additional deployments and cancellation of leaves for traffic staff during the New Year period.

Weather advisories indicate that snowfall and rain may continue in Murree and nearby Galiyat areas in the coming days. Visitors have been instructed to carry tire chains, keep fuel tanks full, and remain alert while traveling in mountainous regions.
