Lahore Offers Free Bus and Rickshaw Service During Basant Festival

The Punjab government has announced special arrangements for Basant 2026 in Lahore, including free bus and rickshaw services for residents. The initiative aims to facilitate smooth travel during the colorful spring festival.

Officials held a key meeting to discuss safety measures and administrative preparations for the event. Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari confirmed that the free transport service will operate across Lahore on February 6, 7, and 8, ensuring convenience for festival-goers.

In addition, kite-related manufacturing will be allowed starting December 30, ahead of the festival. Senior Minister Maryam Aurangzeb has directed the formation of a sub-committee to finalize a detailed plan for the celebrations, including safety protocols and traffic management.

The government’s move is expected to make Basant festivities safer and more accessible for citizens while maintaining public order.
