KP Government Imposes Ban on Illegal Gold Mining in Four Districts

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has enforced a ban on mineral extraction in Swabi, Nowshera, Kohat, and Karak to stop illegal gold mining and prevent environmental damage.

The restriction has been imposed under Section 144 by the Additional Chief Secretary of the Home Department, officials said. The move aims to safeguard natural resources and protect river ecosystems from unchecked mining activities.

Authorities confirmed that gold mining along the banks of the Indus and Kabul rivers has been strictly prohibited. Illegal extraction in these areas was causing serious harm to riverbeds, water flow, and surrounding communities.
