Govt Announces Major Cut in Petrol and Diesel Prices to Welcome 2026
The Government of Pakistan has announced a significant reduction in petrol and diesel prices, offering relief to consumers as the country enters 2026. The price cut applies to both High-Speed Diesel (HSD) and Motor Spirit (MS) petrol.
According to the official notification, the price of high-speed diesel has been reduced by Rs8.57 per liter, bringing the new rate down to Rs257.08, compared to the previous price of Rs265.65 per liter.
Similarly, petrol prices have been slashed by Rs10.28 per liter, with the new rate set at Rs253.17, down from the earlier price.
The Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division) stated that the decision was taken on the recommendations of the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) after reviewing international oil prices and local market conditions.
The revised fuel prices will come into effect from January 1, 2026, and are expected to provide some relief amid rising living costs.
In the previous price review, diesel had seen a Rs6 per liter reduction, while petrol prices remained unchanged, making the latest cut more impactful for consumers.
