Punjab Government Announces Major Promotion Drive for Teachers and Public Employees
The Punjab government has announced long-awaited relief for more than 300,000 teachers and government employees by ordering the clearance of pending promotion cases across the province.
According to an official notification issued by the Directorate of Public Instruction (Elementary) Punjab, all eligible employees from Grade 1 to Grade 16 will be promoted within one month. Promotion instructions have been forwarded to the Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of all districts for immediate implementation.
The DPI Elementary Punjab has directed authorities to process long-pending promotion files on a priority basis. Officials have been clearly warned that disciplinary action will be taken in cases of unnecessary delay, negligence, or failure to meet the deadline.
Teachers and government staff have welcomed the decision, describing it as a major breakthrough after years of stagnation. Many employees say their careers had remained stuck despite meeting all eligibility criteria.
The move is expected to address longstanding grievances, boost morale, and restore confidence among the provincial workforce, while improving overall administrative efficiency in Punjab.
