FBR Dismisses Karachi Tax Officer Over Fake Notices and Database Misuse
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has removed a Karachi-based tax official from service after he was found guilty of issuing illegal and fake tax notices by unlawfully accessing the authority’s electronic systems.
According to an official notification, the officer accessed the FBR e-portal without authorization and downloaded data of 134 taxpayers, issuing illegal notices and orders in multiple cases. He also prepared 91 fake notices and letters, which were later disowned by senior tax officers whose names were misused.
The inquiry revealed that the official had established a parallel system within the tax office for personal motives. He was also found guilty of illegally occupying an office room, keeping official electronic and physical records without approval, and misusing official designations.

Disciplinary proceedings initially faced delays due to records remaining with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA). Once the forensic data was received, the inquiry officer concluded that the accused failed to provide any credible defense.
Based on the findings, the charges of misconduct, inefficiency, and corruption were proven, leading to the major penalty of removal from service.
