No Snow Expected on Margalla Hills Despite Social Media Rumors

Rumors have been circulating online about possible snowfall on Tilla Chruni, the highest peak of Islamabad’s Margalla Hills, between the night of December 31, 2025, and the morning of January 2, 2026. Some posts suggested that thunderstorms could bring heavy hail or wet snow, causing temperatures to drop sharply.

However, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has dismissed these claims, calling them speculation. Officials clarified that no snowfall is expected in the coming days, as current temperatures around 3°C are still above the freezing point required for snow.

Tilla Chruni, at approximately 1,604 meters (5,262 feet), is part of the Margalla Hills National Park, located on the outskirts of Islamabad. Visitors and residents are urged to follow official weather updates rather than rely on unverified social media reports, especially during winter when conditions can change quickly.
