Pakistan Begins Exporting Halal Meat to Tajikistan, Strengthening Trade Ties
Pakistan has officially started exporting halal meat to Tajikistan, marking a significant step in boosting bilateral trade between the two countries. The initiative highlights growing economic cooperation, driven in part by Tajikistan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Yusuf Sharifzoda Toir, and Pakistan’s Ambassador to Tajikistan, Muhammad Saeed Sarwar.
During a meeting with a Pakistani media delegation in Dushanbe, Ambassador Sarwar shared that Pakistan plans to export 143,000 tons of goods worth around $14.5 million to Tajikistan, with halal products forming a key component. He also pointed out the potential for a Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) to further ease trade and strengthen regional economic integration.
The ambassador emphasized that resuming direct flights between the countries would boost trade, tourism, and economic activities, while active participation from business communities could help bilateral trade reach $300 million in the coming years.

Highlighting Tajikistan’s strong economic growth of around 8% annually, Ambassador Sarwar noted the importance of cultural and people-to-people ties, referencing recent events such as Tajik Cultural Week in Islamabad and high-level visits, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s trip to Dushanbe.
Both nations continue to collaborate on agriculture, food security, and livestock exports, reflecting their long-standing historical, cultural, and economic bonds and a shared vision for deeper future trade and investment.
