Islamabad to Block Entry of Vehicles Without M-Tag from January 1, 2026
The Islamabad district administration has announced a firm deadline for vehicles entering the federal capital without an M-Tag, warning citizens to complete registration to avoid disruption.
Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon said that from January 1, 2026, vehicles lacking a valid M-Tag will not be allowed to enter Islamabad. Action will be taken at city entry points and checkpoints once enforcement begins.
He urged residents and frequent commuters to register their vehicles in advance by visiting any of the 16 M-Tag registration centers currently operating across the city. The administration says early compliance will help avoid delays and penalties.
According to officials, mandatory M-Tag installation is aimed at improving security, traffic flow, and monitoring within Islamabad. So far, 95,369 vehicles have been issued M-Tags, including 1,235 registrations in the last 24 hours.
The district administration added that M-Tag readers are being installed at key entry routes and checkposts. Enforcement will start once the system becomes fully operational.
Citizens have been advised to ensure timely registration to prevent restrictions on vehicle movement into the capital.
