PCB Clears 10 Bidders for Two New PSL Franchises Ahead of January Auction

Lahore – The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has shortlisted 10 bidders for the sale of two new Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises after completing a detailed technical evaluation of proposals. The auction is scheduled for January 8, 2026, in Islamabad.

The PCB initially received 12 proposals from investors across the United States, Australia, Canada, the UAE, and Pakistan. Following a three-day scrutiny by the PCB Bid Committee, 10 bidders successfully met the technical requirements and will now move to the auction stage.

The winning bidders at the auction will have the opportunity to choose franchise names from Rawalpindi, Hyderabad, Faisalabad, Gilgit, Muzaffarabad, and Sialkot, expanding the PSL to eight teams for the upcoming season.

PSL CEO Salman Naseer highlighted the strong local and international interest, calling it a “significant milestone” in the league’s growth. He added that the expansion reflects the PSL’s continuing evolution and the increasing confidence of investors in Pakistan’s premier cricket competition.

The upcoming auction is expected to attract wide attention from both cricket fans and global investors, marking another major step in PSL’s development.
